The Big Picture: Animation with Social Impact

  • Museum of Natural History 1747 Summer Street Halifax, NS, B3H 3A6 Canada (map)

FREE and open to all

Animation burrows into our hearts, changes our minds, expands our imaginations, and consequently transforms our society. These panelists create work with powerful social impact. DHX Media Vice President Phillip Stamp will discuss training videos for the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative; independent animator and filmmaker Andrea Doorman will discuss her PSA and documentary work with The Equality Effect; Spotted Fawn Productions’ Amanda Strong will discuss decolonization through animation; and Electric Puppets’ Ryan Cameron will discuss the scientific applications of animation and VR technologies. These artists are pushing the frontiers of animation in directions you’ll never see at the multiplex. They see – and show us – the Big Picture.
